A vague request gives you vague prices. Instead of asking a supplier to quote a “wooden Montessori toy,” give them a product they can actually measure and price.

Write down the real material. “Eco-friendly plastic” and “natural wood” are sales descriptions, not production specifications.

Audit the Processes That Can Fail Your Product

Spend audit time on the production steps used for your SKU, not on the showroom.

Complete the U.S. Compliance File Before Shipment

ASTM F963 is part of the U.S. federal toy-safety framework through 16 CFR Part 1250. CPSC states that ASTM F963-23 is mandatory for applicable toys manufactured after April 20, 2024.[3]

Issue the CPC correctly

For an imported children’s product that requires a CPC, the U.S. importer must issue it. An importer may rely on qualifying test or certification information from another party where allowed, but it cannot simply pass a foreign manufacturer’s CPC to customers as its own certificate.[6]

Children’s products need permanent distinguishing information on the product and packaging, to the extent practicable, so details such as manufacturer/private labeler, production location and date, and batch or run information can be identified.[8]
